"Do NOT think that I have come to do away with the Law of Moses and the teachings of the prophets. I have not come to do away with them, but to make their teachings come true. Remember that as long as heaven and earth last, not the least point nor the smallest detail of the Law will be done away with - not until the end of all things. So then, whoever disobeys even the least important of the commandments and teaches others to do the same, will be least in the Kingdom of heaven." New Testament, Matthew 5:17-19 Firstly, let us be sure that Jesus has explicitly said, without any ambiguity whatsoever, that he has NOT come to do away with the mosaic laws (laws of Moses) and as long as the heaven and earth remain "not the least point nor the smallest detail of the Law will be done away with". I would like the reader to be completely clear on this point before we go further as this is a pivotal point to understanding. So, as we read the laws within the Old Testament, which the Jews are supposed to follow, then these laws also apply to Christians. As this is God's command, through Jesus his Messenger. This is unless a Christian wishes to go against Jesus' words, which then becomes personal choice. Let us look at some of the teachings of Moses and also Prophet Muhammad. At present I will not analyse the teachings of Jesus as he professed to be teaching the same as Moses. However, I'll address why the now-a-day Christians do not follow the Mosaic Law in the next chapter, God willing. The following are comparisons of some of the laws taught by Moses, against the laws taught by Muhammad: Laws through Moses | Ref. from Old Testament | Laws through Muhammad | Ref. from Qur'an | Gods guidance on blood consumption | | "You shall not eat the blood of any flesh, for the life of all flesh is its blood." "Moreover you shall not eat any blood in any of your dwellings..." "And whatever man of the house of Israel, or of the strangers who dwell among you, who eats any blood, I will set My face against that person who eats blood..." | Leviticus 17:14 Leviticus 7:26 Leviticus 17:10 | "Forbidden to you (for food) are: dead meat, blood, the flesh of swine,..."
"I find not in the message received by me by inspiration any (meat) forbidden to be eaten by one who wishes to eat it, unless it be dead meat, or blood poured forth, or the flesh of swine,- for it is an abomination..." | 5:3
6:145 | | Gods guidance on pork consumption | | Nevertheless these you shall not eat... the swine, though it divides the hoof, having cloven hooves, yet does not chew the cud, is unclean to you." | Leviticus 11:4-7 | "Forbidden to you (for food) are: dead meat, blood, the flesh of swine," "I find not in the message received by me by inspiration any (meat) forbidden to be eaten by one who wishes to eat it, unless it be dead meat, or blood poured forth, or the flesh of swine,- for it is an abomination..." | 5:3 6:145 | | Gods guidance on alcohol & intoxicants | "Do not drink wine or intoxicating drink, you, nor your sons with you..." | Leviticus 10:9 | "They ask you concerning wine and gambling. Say: "In them is great sin, and some profit, for men; but the sin is greater than the profit." "...Intoxicants and gambling, (dedication of) stones, and (divination by) arrows, are an abomination,- of Satan's handwork..." | 2:219 5:90 | | Gods guidance on practicing divination | | "you shall not eat anything with the blood, nor shall you practice divination or soothsaying" | Leviticus 19:23 | "...Intoxicants and gambling, (dedication of) stones, and (divination by) arrows, are an abomination,- of Satan's handwork..." | 5:90 | | Gods guidance on the charging of interest | | "You shall not lend him your money for usury, nor lend him your food at a profit" | Leviticus 25:30 | "Allah will deprive usury of all blessing, but will give increase for deeds of charity:.." | 2:276 | | Gods guidance on just trade | | "You shall not have in your bag differing weights, a heavy and a light... ...You shall have a perfect and just weight, a perfect and just measure, ...", | Deuteronomy 25:13-15 | "So establish weight with justice and fall not short in the balance." "Give just measure, and cause no loss. And weigh with scales true and upright." | 55:9 26:181-182 | | Gods guidance on homosexuality | | "You shall not lie with a male as with a woman." | Leviticus 18:22 | "For you practise your lusts on men in preference to women: you are indeed a people transgressing beyond bounds." | 7:81 | | Gods guidance on impurity during menses | | "If a woman has a discharge, and the discharge from her body is blood, she shall be set apart seven days; and whoever touches her shall be unclean until evening." | Leviticus 15:19 | "They ask you concerning women's courses. Say: They are a hurt and a pollution: so keep away from women in their courses, and do not approach them until they are clean. | 2:222 | The examples above are not the usual obvious morals that are being taught like "do not steal" and "do not commit murder" which one could argue as being common sense. And MANY more laws/statues lie within the Torah, which match that of the Qur'an that I have not mentioned above. These range from the types of food we can eat to whom it is lawful to marry. This should hopefully be enough to highlight the point of our investigation; that this is no mere overlap of morale guidance from random moralistic people spanning 2000 years, but specific laws set out from a Higher Source that has remained throughout time for a specific purpose. Neither had "teachers", 2000 years between them, the laws are the same... to the minute detail. Can this really still be shrugged off as a mere coincidence!? Even King David was teaching his son, Solomon, to follow the laws of Moses around 950BC, which was some 550 years after Moses had left the scene. "And keep the charge of The Lord your God: to walk in His ways, to keep His statutes, His commandments, His judgements, and His testimonies, as it is written in the Law of Moses, that you may prosper in all that you do and wherever you turn;" Old Testament 1 Kings 2:3 The fact that these laws have been taught over and over again to us is NOT a matter of coincidence. It is to renew/re-align mankind with the true/original teachings of God after mankind keeps straying for whatever reason from the straight path. The cause of them going astray could have been power, politics, greed, lust etc. OR it could have been misguidance. This leads nicely to the question that I have left until now. Why do Christians differ in their beliefs from that of the Jews and the Muslims, when the Prophets before and after seem to be teaching the same thing and Jesus also professed to have come to teach the same laws as Moses?
